About Microsoft BAM Scholarship 2024
Microsoft BAM Scholarship 2024 is a funded scholarship program for Black and African American students that supports the growth of Black employees in the career of technology field. This scholarship is for a Bachelor’s degree in the technology sector. This scholarship is available for 45 students out of them it covers $5000 for 5 successful students and $2,500 for 45 successful students.
BAM Scholarship 2024 is a scholarship program established by the Settle Foundation and Microsoft Employee Resource Group (ERGs) to assist current high school seniors of African descent (for example, African American, African, Ethiopian, etc.) and plan to continue their education in 4-year college or university pursuing a STEM or Business-related field of study.

Scholarship Benefits
- BAM Scholarship will award 50 scholarships total\ing $137,500 (USD)
- 5 Successfully selected applicants will be awarded $5,000. This scholarship is renewable for up to three years or until a bachelor’s degree is earned, whichever occurs first, based on satisfactory academic performance maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, full-time enrollment, and continued enrollment in the eligible major.
- 45 Successfully selected applicants will be awarded $2,500. This scholarship award is one-time only. Applicants cannot renew this scholarship award.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants must be Black and African American Students
- Applicants must be high school seniors of African descent. (for example, African American, African, Ethiopian, etc.).
- Applicants plan to attend a four-year college or university in the US in the fall immediately following their high school graduation.
- Applicants intend to enroll in full-time undergraduate study in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or one of the following Business programs – Business Administration, Finance, or Marketing at an accredited four-year college or university in the United States for the entire upcoming academic year.
- Applicants must demonstrate a passion for technology.
- Applicants must demonstrate leadership at school or in the community.
- Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or its equivalent.
- Applicants require financial assistance to attend college.
Required Documents
- One Letter of Recommendation: At least one letter must be from a faculty or staff member at your school. Letters of recommendation should be original and should not be duplicates of college recommendation letters. (Letters must be on letterhead.)
- Transcript: Applicants need to submit a current, complete transcript of grade. The transcript must display the student name, school name, and credit hours for each course and term in which the courses were taken.
Note, if you are providing SAT or ACT test scores, and those scores are not listed on your high school transcript, you will need to upload a copy of your test score report(s) separately. If you are uploading a college transcript, those scores are not required.
- One Essay: Describe how you plan to engage in the technology industry in your career. (2,000 characters- approximately 500 words or less). (If you have done exemplary work using technology during high school, please describe that also.)
