About McDonald Fellowships

The McDonald Fellowship 2024 is a fully funded research funding program designed to support low and middle-income countries to work in research institutions outside their own country to pursue a Master’s, or PhD degree program. The fellowship consists of a two-year grant, around GBP 30,000 per year, to cover travel and living costs, and an additional contribution of GBP 2,000 per year to the host institution. The fellowship provides funding for a period of one to two years to enable recipients to undertake research in a recognized institution under the mentorship of a senior investigator.

There are two types of McDonald Fellowships;

• The first type is offered in collaboration with the European Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS).
• The second type is granted in partnership with ARSEP, which is a member organization of the Multiple Sclerosis International Federation (MSIF).

The McDonald Fellowship 2024 Provides the following scholarship coverage/benefits to selected applicants;

• This Scholarship provides a two-year financial grant amount of GBP 30,000 per year to cover travel and living expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must fulfill the following requirements to qualify for the McDonald Fellowships.

• Required Languages: Candidates must be experts in English to be eligible for this Scholarship.
• Eligible countries: Candidates from all world countries be eligible for this scholarship.
• Applicants must come from low-income or middle-income countries.
• Applicants must be either Master’s students, PhD candidates, or MD candidates.
• Applicants working on multiple sclerosis in low or middle-income countries are also eligible.
• Applicants must choose a host institute before applying, either in their home country or a neighboring country if travel is permitted.
