Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme: Even though education is officially free up to the secondary level in Nepal, most colleges/ schools/ universities charge high fees to students. Limited access to quality educational resources and infrastructure in rural areas makes it difficult for many students to excel academically. Additionally, social norms and discrimination, such as early marriage for girls, and cast discrimination against certain castes, can hinder educational aspirations, especially for young women, and low cast people. These challenges contribute to a high dropout rate and a significant gap in educational attainment in Nepal. To address these challenges, Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship 2024-25 is currently available for high school (+2) students in any recognized school/college/university in Nepal.
